What Happened in 2010
Following in example via Will Lam, who filled out his year end recap in the same fashion as his friend, I decided to do the same. I’ve only updated my tumblr blog once this year, when I first moved out, thinking I would be learning a lot about life on my own in my own place. WRONG.
So 2010 went something like this.
-Sorted out my finances and prepared myself to finally move out of my parents house after a 3 year wait for my new condo. I’m finally free!
-Settled into condo. Met Will Lam on Feb 13th whilst on a Valentine’s day assignment for work, covering a story about people who were speed dating via Twitter (Flittering). Will Lam did not Flitter me. He was my interview subject introduced to me by one of my girlys who was the PR for the event.
-Officially dating Will Lam. At the same time, joined up with him and started working on Cheapdateideas.ca, a website he had founded and which I thought could have potential but needed major edits. Hence, I stepped in.
-Canceled a would-have-been awesome trip with one of my besties to Iceland, Sweden, Netherlands and France due to the Ash clouds dilemma and time restraints.
-Went to NYC with Will Lam. Realized it was too soon in our relationship to travel together but we learned a lot about one another in the process.
-Applied for Extreme U 2010 with Will Lam and got accepted!
-Started Extreme U and survived a crazy crazy summer, working almost 24/7 non-stop. Would go to regular work, work on website for 4 plus hours each night, head out on weekends to do more website work, back to day time work.
-Turned Cheapdateideas.ca to Date Ideas. Launched an aggressive social media campaign via FB to boost our presence, although we find out later, we broke FB rules regarding self-promoting.
-Had to part ways with one of Date Ideas partners due to creative differences. Bounced right back and had two new developers join the team almost immediately.
-I decided to take a backseat to the whole website and concentrate on my own desires in terms of career goals.
-Bought my first mobile Apple product (the Ipod Touch). Still not feeling it, except using it to play Angry Birds.
So to recap, this year started with many changes, I moved out, unexpectantly fell in love, started an amazing new project, felt all the growing pains of it, and eventually stepped away from it. All I hope for in the New Year is for more great and amazing things to unexpectantly happen, and to be met with many more exciting challenges in life, and oh yes, TO FINALLY SEE PARIS! Hopefully the volcanoes behave next summer.
